Columbia student Mahmoud Khalil’s legal team on Monday released new footage of the minutes leading up to his arrest that they say contradicts the government’s argument that he was a flight risk.
The judge in the case, Michael E. Farbiarz, has yet to weigh in fully on the issues of free speech and due process as Mr. Khalil passes the weeks in Jena, La.
Khalil’s lawyers argue the case improperly conflates domestic protests with foreign policy concerns and violates his free speech rights.
Newly released footage of Mahmoud Khalil's arrest casts further doubt on the legality of the Columbia University Palestinian rights activist's detention.
