Residents described the intensity of a deadly explosion in Palm Springs, likening the frightening jolt in the resort community east of Los Angeles to a thunderclap or car crash.

One person is dead after a car exploded in Palm Springs, California, a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation said.

Rhino Williams was chatting with customers Saturday at a hotel restaurant he helps manage when he heard the explosion that tore through a fertility clinic in the California city of Palm Springs late Saturday morning.

"Make no mistake. This is an intentional act of terrorism." Akil Davis, Assistant Director of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, provided an update during a press conference on the ongoing investigation into the Palm Springs car explosion that left one person dead and four others injured.
