The National Zoo’s new pandas, Bao Li and Qing Bao, arrived in the DC area Tuesday. The zoo closed Tuesday to accommodate its new residents, the Washington Post reports.

The National Zoo’s two new giant panda, who arrived Tuesday after an 8,000-mile flight from China, will now settle into their new home before going on display.

Bao Li and Qing Bao, both three, departed the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda on Monday evening local time in Dujiangyan. They’re scheduled to arrive in the US on Tuesday via a Fedex Boeing 777 cargo jet dubbed the “Panda Express.

Panda lovers, rejoice! After nearly a year without those adorable black-and-white ambassadors, Washington, D.C.’s National Zoo is rolling out the bamboo carpet for Bao Li and Qing Bao, two new pandas fresh from China’s Sichuan province.

Bao Li and Qing Bao, both three years old, left the giant panda research base in Dujiangyan, a city near the bears’ native habitat in the mountains of southwest China, on Monday night local time. They boarded a specially chartered FedEx Boeing 777 cargo jet dubbed the “Panda Express” early Tuesday morning local time and took off for Washington.
