Before Yankees reliever Ian Hamilton’s first opener assignment in two seasons went in the tank right away — a Braves’ three-run first began with a single, then two doubles — Max Fried made his first few throws off a mound since he departed last Sunday’s game at Yankee Stadium after three innings with an index finger blister on his pitching hand.

Fried has been playing catch since the blister first popped up in Saturday's start against the Cubs, and the team has not made an injured list move, but he has not done more than play catch. The lefty's status will likely be updated in a day or two if he is able to throw a side session,
