Usha Chilukuri Vance, the wife of Middletown native and Vice President JD Vance, made history Monday. With her husband serving alongside President Donald Trump, Usha Vance became the first Indian American second lady in the White House. She is also the first Hindu second lady.

Washington:  US President Donald Trump has said that he would have chosen Usha Chilukuri Vance, JD Vance’s wife, as his Vice President as “she is smarter but the line of succession did not work that way”.

JD Vance wrote about meeting his wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, as a Yale Law School student in "Hillbilly Elegy."

Vice President JD Vance is married to Usha Chilukuri Vance. Usha Chilukuri Vance was born to Indian immigrants who moved to the U.S. in the late 1970s, Reuters reported. She was raised in the suburbs of San Diego, California.

As US Second Lady, Usha Vance will fill a position that is traditionally relegated to the sidelines of White House life, which may well suit a political spouse who has never sought out the limelight.

As a new administration takes office in Washington D.C., the family of new Second Lady Usha Vance will be in the spotlight. Usha’s parents, Radhakrishna “Krish” Chilukuri and Lakshmi Chilukuri, moved from India to the U.

Usha Vance, 39, is the first Indian American to be second lady. Some Indian Americans say they don't see her representing their community.

Usha Vance became the first Indian-origin second lady of the US as her husband James David Vance took the Vice Presidential oath.
