In a resurfaced clip from 2017, President Donald Trump sang the praises of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell when he first nominated him.

Powell is the head of the US central bank and has recently faced relentless attacks from Trump on social media and in the press, with the Republican leader claiming he’s moving too slowly to cut interest rates.

At the construction site, Trump took out a piece of paper claiming the cost of the Federal Reserve’s renovation project had surged to $3.1 billion, compared with the Fed's official figure of $2.5 billion. Powell called him out on it, and that awkward interaction and live fact-check is going viral:
