Oscar, Emmy and Grammy award winner Atticus Ross was presented with the BMI Icon award “in recognition of his exceptional body of work” at the performing rights society’s annual Film, TV and Visual Media Awards Wednesday night in Beverly Hills.

The ICON Award is one of the highest honors at the AMAs, reserved for artists whose impact on music and culture is both lasting and legendary. Only two artists have received the award before — Rihanna in 2013 and Lionel Richie in 2022 — making Janet’s recognition all the more meaningful.

Janet Jackson will be honored with the ICON Award and will perform at the 2025 American Music Awards taking place on Monday, May 26.
