Hickam Air Force Base is home to the Pacific Command, PACAF, 15th Wing and the Hawaii Air National Guard. Hickam Field is named in honor of aviation pioneer Lieutenant Colonel Horace Meek Hickam.

Maui firefighters get an assist from a Hawaii National Guard Chinook helicopter and a Goodfellow Brothers water tanker while holding the line at the top of Ohukai Street in Kihei Wednesday afternoon.

USPACOM comprises Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force service components, all headquartered in Hawaii. The Coast Guard, providing unique services to the islands, also has a large presence.
