The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that former captain, two-time Stanley Cup champion and team TV broadcaster Ed Van Impe has passed away at 84 years old.

They acquired defenseman Mark Howe from the Hartford Whalers for a plentiful sum, but the cost was worth it. He was a Flyer for 10 seasons, finishing as a Norris Trophy finalist three times.
