The harshest week of winter thus far has begun, kicking off with several inches of snow in much of Massachusetts. Overnight, a widespread 4-8 inches of snow fell across most of southern New England. Slightly lower amounts fell over extreme southeastern Massachusetts.

Several Florida counties could see "show showers" next week as another an Arctic blast combines with moisture to make snow a possibility.

Bostonians can expect between 4 to 6 inches of snow, with higher totals of between 6 to 8 inches in areas just northwest of the city. Southeastern areas, including the South Shore and Cape Cod, will see lower totals due to a delayed arrival of colder air.
