Democratic senators had raised concerns about access granted to Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team.

The Government Accountability Office and Treasury Department inspector general both said they were probing access to the payment systems.

The Treasury Department's inspector general said on Friday it began an audit of security controls for the U.S. government's payment system, the Associated Press reported, after Democratic senators expressed concern about the access given to President Donald Trump's aide Elon Musk and his staff.
