A striking new image from the James Webb Space Telescope shows a rare object called an Einstein ring. This shows what appears to be a ring-shaped object in the sky, but is actually created by two separate galaxies and the epic forces of gravity.
The Webb telescope — a scientific collaboration between NASA, ESA, and the Canadian Space Agency — is designed to peer into the deepest cosmos and reveal new insights about the early universe. It's also examining intriguing planets in our galaxy, along with the planets and moons in our solar system.

The Daily Galaxy on MSNJames Webb Spots a Glowing ‘Eye’ in Deep Space—A Perfect Einstein Ring Warped by GravityThe James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has captured one of the most stunning and rare cosmic sights in astronomy: a nearly perfect Einstein ring, formed by the warped light of a distant galaxy curved by the intense gravity of another.
This breathtaking image of V838 Mon showcases a star located approximately 20,000 light-years from Earth in the Monoceros constellation, situated at the outer edge of the Milky Way galaxy.

The Brighterside of News on MSNBold new theory challenges endless expansion of the universeFor years, scientists have used a well-established model to explain how the universe evolves. The standard theory, called the Lambda Cold Dark Matter model (ΛCDM), is the prevailing cosmological framework that describes the large-scale structure and evolution of the universe.
The latest image from NASA's James Webb Space Telescope, pictured above, also happens to be a stunning illustration of Einstein's theory of general relativity. So much so that the cosmic phenomenon is called an "Einstein ring.
