Delta Air Lines's decision to drastically cut its operations in 2005 was not the only bad news for the airport, as in the same year DHL decided to move its hub to Wilmington and leave Cincinnati.

The release stated that since 2023, DHL-operated aircraft have departed Miami to its hub at the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky International Airport in the morning instead of the evening.
