Sporting News on MSNChris Taylor breaks silence after release from DodgersLongtime Los Angeles Dodgers utility player Chris Taylor broke his silence on his release from the Dodgers as he signed with the Angels.
UVA Baseball alum Chris Taylor, released by the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 18, is already back in the bigs, signing with the Los Angeles Angels.
His acquisition follows a pattern for the Angels, who have added notable players midseason to band-aid the roster and keep the team competitive. In June 2023, the Angels traded for Mike Moustakas. And in April last season, they signed Kevin Pillar after he’d been DFA’d by the White Sox.
Chris Taylor was released by the Los Angeles Dodgers to clear a roster spot for utilityman Tommy Edman and will be owed over $13 million.
“Chris Taylor was a mostly an unknown player when the Dodgers acquired him in a deal for their former top prospect Zach Lee. He went on to make an All-Star team, win two World Series rings, and earn more than $70 Million. Chris Taylor is an amazing baseball success story,” Doug McKain of Dodgers Nation wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
The Bulldogs fired coach Chris Lemonis on April 28. That opened up a 30-day transfer portal window for players to enter. So far, Landis Davila and Gavin Black are the only players to announce that they're entered the portal. The baseball transfer portal opens for everyone on June 2.
