The White Sox traded catcher Matt Thaiss off the big league roster on Tuesday, but prospect Kyle Teel will stay in Triple-A as Korey Lee has been activated off the injured list.
The Chicago White Sox made a handful of roster moves Tuesday, sending catcher Matt Thaiss to the Tampa Bay Rays.
"Having people that you can enjoy the journey throughout the season with is important." starter Sean Burke said. "[Vasil's] comfortable with himself. A lot of rookies over their first couple weeks out here try to lay low and feel everybody out.
But ranging from Rookie Ball to Triple-A, they're not the only ones to monitor. Before Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers, White Sox director of hitting Ryan Fuller identified one under-the-radar player who's been a pleasant surprise this season.
After acquiring reliever Miguel Castro from the Astros, the White Sox announce that the right-hander will miss the rest of the season.
Matt Thaiss was traded in part because of the team's surplus of catching depth. In a corresponding move, Korey Lee was reinstated from the 10-day injured list to take Thaiss' spot.
The Chicago White Sox first baseman doubled for the fifth straight game in Wednesday's win over the New York Mets.
The Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday acquired catcher Matt Thaiss from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for outfielder Dru Baker. To make room on the 40-man roster, outfielder Jonny DeLuca (right shoulder strain) was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
