Chicago civil rights leaders and Illinois politicians reaffirmed their dedication to protecting education and immigrants rights Monday morning amid reports that President Donald Trump could begin his crackdown on illegal immigration this week with raids in Chicago.

Jan. 20 is a federally observed holiday in honor of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. Over the weekend, communities across Chicago will host events and service opportunities to honor the civil rights leader's legacy.

This year, the holiday falls on Monday, Jan. 20. It's a federal holiday, which means government agencies, banks and many corporate offices will closed for the day.
