After an agonizing wait, Nintendo finally revealed more details on the Switch 2 during a Direct presentation on the morning of April 2nd. While Nintendo told us very little in the official reveal of the console in January, the company announced during the Direct that the Switch 2 would launch on June 5th and cost $449.99.

However, Bloomberg reports that Nintendo assembles roughly a third of Switch 2 units in Vietnam, now only facing a 10% tariff, not the 46% it would have had if the pause had not happened.

Nintendo Switch 2’s C button activates a suite of social features called GameChat, but requires a Nintendo Switch Online subscription starting in April 2026. Nintendo risks confusion and backlash from players and parents when the C button stops working for everyone without an NSO subscription.
