Guitarist and singer Rick Derringer, known for hit songs "Hang on Sloopy" and "Rock and Roll, Hoochie, Koo," has died at 77.

Rick Derringer, who had a No. 1 hit with The McCoys in "Hang on Sloopy" and created a rock staple in "Rock and Roll, Hootchie Koo" died May 26. He was 77.

He worked with a wide range of acts including Steely Dan and Ringo Starr, and he produced "Weird Al" Yankovic's first six albums.
