News spoke with Randolph County Superintendent Shawn Dilly as well as parents of the Pickens and Harman communities after moves to close the two schools failed earlier this week.

The future direction of Randolph County Schools is unclear after the proposed closures of Harman and Pickens schools failed to pass at the county level this week.

Following the move to keep Harman open, Randolph County Schools Superintendent Shawn Dilly released a statement Wednesday that the BOE would formally withdraw the proposal to close Pickens School. The statement came hours prior to another meeting that was scheduled for Wednesday night regarding the schools’ potential closure.
