Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the National Conference (NC)-Congress coalition government, the President has revoked the central rule in Jammu and Kashmir.

This development comes two days after National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah met Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha on Friday to stake claim for government formation. Abdullah submitted letters of support that the NC received in the recently concluded assembly elections.

The Union Home Ministry on Sunday issued a gazette notification withdrawing the President's rule from Jammu and Kashmir, thereby clearing the decks for the swearing-in of the new NC-Congress government led by Omar Abdullah.
