One of three Ohio officers has been released from the hospital after being shot during an ambush earlier this week.

A vigil outside the Lorain Police Department has grown steadily since Wednesday, when three officers were shot in an ambush-style attack.

Lorain Police Department confirmed Officer Payne's release from Cleveland's MetroHealth Medical Center saying he is 'on the road to recovery.'

Data analyzed by the CBS News Crime Unit shows at least 50 law enforcement officers have been shot in ambush attacks so far this year.

Lorain Police Officer Brent Payne, who was shot in Lorain while on a lunch break with fellow officers, was released from the hospital on Saturday.  According to the Lorain Police Department, 47-year-old Payne was discharged from Cleveland’s MetroHealth Medical Center.
