Nearly 200 Jurassic footprints found in southern England reveal new insights into 166 million-year-old prehistoric creatures, according to scientists.

At least five trackways were found in Oxfordshire, revealing a dynamic environment from about 166 million years ago.

An excavation at Dewars Farm Quarry in England’s Oxfordshire county has revealed 200 dinosaur footprints dating back to the Mid-Jurassic period (166 million years ago). It is believed to be the largest dinosaur trackway discovered in the UK.

Hundreds of huge dinosaur footprints have been discovered on a so-called “dinosaur highway” in Oxfordshire. The stunning find was uncovered in a joint effort by researchers from the Universities of Oxford and Birmingham in June 2024 and is the UK’s largest-ever dinosaur trackway site.
