Murals depicting baseball icons Jackie Robinson and Minnie Miñoso in Miami were defaced with racist graffiti. Mark Puleo of The Athletic reported Friday that Miami Police Department spokesperson Michael Vega said the department's special investigations unit is investigating the situation as a hate crime.

The paintings are at Dorsey Park, a historic Negro League park in a neighborhood known as the 'Harlem of the South' during segregation.

The graffiti consists of swastikas painted on both men's face, with the N-word also used twice on Robinson. The murals, which are located at Dorsey Park of Miami's historically black Overtown neighborhood, have since been covered up with wooden boards.
