EVANSVILLE — Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation notified employees at noon Thursday that its student data software vendor, PowerSchool, had experienced a "widespread cybersecurity data breach" affecting student and employee data.

BLUFFTON, Ind. (WFFT) — A second northeast Indiana district was affected by a recent PowerSchool data breach. Bluffton-Harrison Metropolitan School District announced that student and staff information was downloaded by an unauthorized user through the global system.

New Trier said the data that was accessed included names and school ID numbers. No current students' Social Security numbers were accessed, but some former students' were.

The educational software giant said it doesn’t anticipate any of the compromised information “being shared or made public,” as a review of the incident continues.

A spokesperson for the company said an "unauthorized actor" accessed and stole sensitive customer information.

Westerville City Schools confirmed personal student info was accessed in PowerSchool breach. Unclear if several more central Ohio districts affected.

School officials learned of the “potential cybersecurity incident” on Tuesday, Needham Public Schools Superintendent Dan Gutekanst said in a statement.
