Kenya will send 600 more police officers to Haiti next month to bolster an international anti-gang mission, President William Ruto said on Friday during a visit by the Haitian prime minister intended to speed up deployments to the force.

Gunmen have invaded another town north of Haiti’s capital, just a week after a massacre killed at least 115 people in the country’s central region.

The October 3 attack on residents of Pont-Sondé stands as one of the largest massacres Haiti has witnessed in recent years.

A new wave of gang violence in Haiti has spurred faster support from Kenyan security forces which has so far been instrumental in the Caribbean country’s fight against insecurity. A recent gang attack in the country reportedly claimed over 100 lives.
