Hurricane Flossie strengthened overnight then weakened again Wednesday to a Category 2 hurricane off Mexico’s southwestern Pacific coast with maximum sustained winds of 110 mph (175 kph), the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

Hurricane Flossie experienced a period of rapid intensification on Tuesday and is now a Category 3 hurricane as it moves away from the southwestern coast of Mexico, according to the National Hurricane Center.

According the the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Flossie could strengthen into a hurricane as early as Monday.
