Attorneys for the man suspected of killing rap icon Tupac Shakur want to delay next month’s trial, saying more time is needed for investigative work to ensure that Duane “Keffe D” Davis gets a fair trial.

The man accused of orchestrating the murder of Tupac Shakur wants a judge to delay his upcoming trial, citing a private investigator's identification of new witnesses, court documents filed Friday said.

Davis, an ex-gang leader who is accused of orchestrating Shakur’s killing near the Las Vegas Strip, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and has been jailed since his September 2023 arrest. Long known to investigators as one of four suspects identified early in the investigation, he is the only one to be charged.

The only suspect ever charged in the killing of Tupac Shakur did not appear in court Tuesday for a hearing on whether his defense team is prepared to go to trial. Duane “Keffe D” Davis also did not attend a scheduled hearing in another case,

The man charged in connection with the killing of Tupac Shakur has pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from an alleged fight while in jail. Court records show Duane Davis entered his plea during an arraignment hearing in Clark County District Court on Thursday.
