Long-festering tensions over border territory have escalated into armed conflict between Cambodia and Thailand, leading to dozens of deaths on both sides and displacing tens of thousands of people. Neither side is prepared to claim responsibility for the first volley on Thursday,

Thailand and Cambodia accuse each other of shelling after a ceasefire call by U.S. President Trump. Both countries disagree on who initiated the conflict, which has already led to over 30 deaths and significant evacuations.

Cambodian officials have reported another 12 people killed as a result of the ongoing border dispute with Thailand, with the death toll on both sides now standing at 32, as fears grow that the Southeast Asian neighbours may become engulfed in an extended conflict.
