You cannot miss visiting this castle if you go to Okinawa. Very clean and well kept castle and grounds. Almost perfect until the castle is rebuilt, it is in process now!Full review by fs646

The original gate and a lot of the walls. Of the actual castle itself, nothing, it was completely destroyed in the fire, and It is being completely rebuilt and not due to open until 2026. There are a lot of steps to climb and slopes. There is a bit of a view if you do go and get to the top walls but its not wonderful.

Our cruise calls into Naha for one day in October this year and instead of doing a cruise excursion, we thought we might catch taxi's to the areas we want to see. Are taxi's readily available from Shurijo Castle? I have looked at maps and cannot see taxi stand marked on any of them. Thanks.

There are plenty of taxis, just ask someone official and they can direct you to one. Bring cash, as Japan is a cash society and chances are your taxi may not do card.

Details about all the performances (location, dates, times, cost if there is one) are on the Shuri Castle web site.
