Highly recommend a trip to Buck Island. I loved the under water park, snorkeling through the gorgeous waters and spending time at Turtle Cove. The most beautiful blue water and white sandy beach.Full review by margaretryand

Since I didn't get the answer quickly enough to decide what to do on the one day we planned to spend on that side of St Croix, we decided to go instead to the National Historical Site, Fort Christianvaern and toured the Fort. We also got our passport cancelled at the book store. While we were looking at the stamp, I noticed there was a stamp for Buck Island too. So next time I know to go to the bookstore to get the passport cancelled for Buck Island.
Hi wanderlust.....My husband and I do not snorkel. Would this excursion still be worthwhile to just relax on the beach? Thank you!!

We took the half day excursion with Big Beard Adventure Tours. They stop for an hour at the beach on the lee side. They hold a beginners snorkel class there which allows a non-snorkeler to see if they like it. Then they drive into the reef. The boat has a glass bottom that can be lowered into the water upon request for non-snorkel era and children. The reef itself has a wonderful variety of fish; it’s like swimming in an aquarium.
Hello! I will be in St Croix USVI and Barbados each for just one day next week and would love the scoop on snorkeling. And is the snorkeling better in St Croix or Barbados? I've been in lots of places and mostly love to see colorful fish and other sea creatures. My Mum is traveling with me and prefers the beach. But she is happy to go on a boat trip too. I am trying to decide whether to book a catermaran trip to Buck Island or just snorkel by the shore. (Rainbow beach) Or do Rainbow Beach in St Croix and then Barbados snorkeling boat trip. If anyone has recommendations, I'd love to hear them! Thanks so much! :-)

Thanks so much for the helpful response! I will likely try both, if I have time! I am traveling with my Mum, who is not a keen snorkeler and Barbados had a lot of things one could do! Maybe I'll snorkel at Buck Island and try to do scuba in Barbados if the reef there is deeper. I've only gone scuba diving once, but it was fun. Thanks for the recommendation for a tour company too!
